Pope Francis confers sainthood on two Palestinians

Mariam Baouardy is to the left while Alphonsine Ghattas is
to the right..............
Today, May 17th, in a canonization laden with significance
both religious and political, Pope Francis declared Marie
Alphonsine Ghattas and Mariam Baouardy the first two
Palestinian saints of modern times.
About 2,000 Palestinians gathered in the Vatican's St. Peter's
Square to sing and pray and celebrate their saints. There,
they heard the Pope pay tribute to the way in which the two
new saints experienced the love of God.
He said: Sister Mariam Baouardy experienced this in an
outstanding way. Poor and uneducated, she was able to
counsel others and provide theological explanations with
extreme clarity, the fruit of her constant converse with
the Holy Spirit. Her docility to the Spirit also made her a
means of encounter and fellowship with the Muslim
world,"
"So, too, Sister Marie Alphonsine Danil Ghattas came to
understand clearly what it means to radiate the love of
God ... and to be a witness to meekness and unity. She
shows us the importance of becoming responsible for
one another, of living lives of service one to another," he
said.
Ghattas was born in Jerusalem in the 1840s to a devout
Christian family. She became a nun, dedicating herself to a
life of quiet servitude.
In Bethlehem, she said she began to receive visions of the
Virgin Mary telling her to start a new congregation for Arab
girls, called Sisters of the Rosary.
Ghattas' hard work and her profound devotion led to the
founding of the Rosary Sisters Convent. It was Ghattas'
home, which she donated to the convent to spread
education and culture to those in need.
While Baouardy was born in Ibillin, a small village in Galilee,
also in the 1840s. She was the 13th child in her family, and
the only one to survive past infancy.
Her parents died when she was 3 years old, and her uncle
raised her.
In Alexandria, Egypt, one of her uncle's servants told her to
convert to Islam. When she refused, the servant slit her
throat.
It was then that Baouardy's miracle began.
"Mariam became a martyr, and she went to heaven," said
Sister Fireal of the Carmelite Monastery in Bethlehem. "She
saw the crown of grace, saw her mother and father. But she
heard a voice saying that your life is not yet over and you
should return to Earth."
According to Baouardy's account, a young nun dressed in
blue healed her, cared for her, and led her to the church. It
was, she believed, the Virgin Mary.
Baouardy led a life of service to the poor and to the church.

Touching moment a Sikh man breaks strict religious protocol and removes his turban to help save life of little boy

New Zealand student Harman Singh, 22, broke strict
religious protocol by taking off his turban to help save the
life of a child hit by a car. He has been heralded as a hero.
Singh removed his turban to help cradle the bleeding head
of a five-year-old boy who had been hit by a car on his way
to school.
Mr Singh heard the accident take place outside his home,
before running outside to investigate. He broke strict Sikh
protocol by removing his turban. Turbans become a part of
a Sikh's body and are usually removed only in the privacy of
their own house. Normally this is in the most intimate of
circumstances, when bathing the head, or washing the hair.
Since the incident occurred, Mr Singh has received
thousands of messages and comments on his Facebook
page. 'Thousands of people have said "well done". I was only
doing what I had to and trying to be a decent member of the

day just to see my wife’s face. That is one of the things
that would make her happy." Cobhams said

partner, I often wish he can see the expression on my
face when we are talking.

A 17-year-old Texas high school student claims he saw Jesus
after he collapsed in gym class and was without a heartbeat
for 20 minutes. Zack Clements suffered sudden cardiac
arrest at Victory Life Academy on May 5 and was
unresponsive. But just as doctors were about to declare him
dead after 20 minutes, he revived.
He was airlifted to the hospital & woke up in the intensive
care unit days later. Even more incredible than Zack's
recovery is what he claims he saw. Jesus!
"When I was out those 20 minutes, I saw a man who had
long ruffled hair and kind of a thick beard, and it didn’t
take me long to realize that that was Jesus," Zack said.
"I went up to him and he put his hand on my shoulder
and told me everything would be alright."
Zach and his family are saying that they can't explain what
happened, but they're calling it a miracle.

Airtel backs RLG/Osun ICT Youth Empoowerment Initiative

Airtel Nigeria has commended the Osun State Government
for its ICT-driven initiative which has not only enhanced skill
acquisition amongst youths but also led to job creation.
Speaking at the launch of new product brands by RLG, one
of Africa's Technology powerhouses, Airtel Nigeria's MD/
CEO, Segun Ogunsanya noted that the public-private
initiative between RLG and the State of Osun was worthy of
emulation as it is an example that good things can come out
of Africa.
Mr. Ogunsanya who noted that Airtel Nigeria has begun
partnering with RLG by placing orders for the phone brand
made at the RLG/Adelawo Technology City because it has
found that the products meet the company's standards.
He said that Airtel was happy to support more local
production as most of the phones imported into Nigeria
means transfer of Labour to other countries and also capital
flight.
He revealed that his company had no choice but to support
products manufactured locally since this has a tendency to
create more jobs and add value to the economy.
In his words "If you marry technology with the right
price, you create a vibrant market and with the knowledge
you provide, you lift more people out of poverty. We will
continue to partner RLG and Osun.
In his own speech, Governor Rauf Aregbesola said the
success story of the RLG/Adulawo Technogy City puts to
shame cynics who thought the project was an election
gimmick.
Describing the multi-million dollar initiative as a historic
monument to the power of vision, the Governor revealed
that the Technology City had in the last one years directly
employed 150 persons and trained 1,500 through the Osun
Youth Empowerment Scheme on Technology (OYESTECH).
According to him "this plant, a public-private partnership
with RLG Global is the biggest in Africa and the first of its
kind in Nigeria, given the potential of the electronics gadgets
in Nigeria, from mobile phones, LCD TVs, tablets etc, the
potentials are very great"
He used the opportunity to thank Airtel for patronizing
products from the Technology City, urging other
telecommunications outfits to join the train by supporting
these locally-produced brands

West Africa, Mr. Tosin Ilesanmi who represented the Group
Chairman of RLG, Mr. Roland Agambire, the RLG/Adulawo
Technology City has recorded a huge milestone with the deal

seen as a good base for infusing local content into the
Nigeria technological space and an indication that the
continent can compete favorably and meet international
standards.
He said that it was heart-wsrming that the initiative had
achieved this feat in just one year and was optimistic that
the future in terms of job creation and youth Empowerment
was great for this RLG Model.
In the course of the event, Mr.Alex Lu, CEO, RLG Global
introduced some new products. They include: Educational
laptop, EL3(which operates on both Android and Windows
platforms), the Smart Projector, Uhuru Accu phone and the
high-end Uhuru Titan.

direction of the company, adding that RLG was in Nigeria to
empower youths and develop the education sector with a he

US warns Gambian President to be more tolerant of homosexuals or else face consequences

The United States has criticized Gambian President Yahya
Jammeh on Saturday for "unconscionable" remarks, after he
reportedly threatened to slit the throats of gay men in his
country.
Jammeh made homosexuality illegal in Gambia and said he
would slit the throats of men who wanted to marry other
men in Gambia.
US National Security Advisor Susan Rice said the comments
were part of an "alarming deterioration of the broader
human rights situation" in Gambia. "The recent
unconscionable comments by Gambian President Yahya
Jammeh underscore why we must continue to seek a world
in which no one lives in fear of violence or persecution
because of who they are or whom they love," Rice said in a
statement.
Rice said the United States is concerned about reports of
broader rights violations in the country, including allegations
of missing US citizens.
"We are deeply concerned about credible reports of torture,
suspicious disappearances, including of two American
citizens -- and arbitrary detention at the government's
hands," Rice said.
Rice warned the US could take action. It revoked trade
preferences with Gambia last year following reports of a
crackdown against the country's lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender (LGBT) community.
"We are reviewing what additional actions are appropriate
to respond to this worsening situation," Rice said. "We
repeat our call for the Gambian government, and all
governments, to lead inclusively, repudiate intolerance, and
promote respect for the universal rights and fundamental
freedoms of all people."
