Is he loving or possessive?

He accesses your social networking accounts, phone calls and
text messages on a regular basis. He curbs your freedom and
everything becomes subjective to his approval. He double
checks everything you say to be sure you’re telling the truth.
He feels extremely jealous about your relationship with other
members of the opposite sex and even your male boss. He is
in touch throughout the day to be constantly informed about
your entire activities.
Now, would you call that true love or possessiveness and
jealousy? But what if this ‘true love’ or ‘possessiveness’ goes
too far and hinders a woman from living her own life, as it has
for most women?
Admitted, every woman wants to feel loved and special, and
as such find the aforementioned traits in their partner really
exciting- but only at the beginning, as history has shown that
it soon cascades into frustration for many.
According to relationship experts who say there is a thin line
between love and possessiveness, the latter could be
extremely unhealthy for any relationship and often has close to
nothing to do with true love.
“Those traits are sheer jealousy and possessiveness, and as
such, are part of abuse. They’re indicative that a person feels
they own and can control another person. It’s perfectly fine to
expect commitment, boundaries, etc., but these feelings are
different. Being uneasy about your partner’s relationship with
the opposite sex for example shows a lack of trust, and trust
is a vital part of any relationship,” says a relationship
counselor.
“Love has very little to do with most people’s possessive
nature. More often than not, it’s a man’s insecurity that
makes him jealous and possessive. And each time he displays
his possessiveness and gets to control his partner’s behavior,
it makes him feel more powerful in the relationship,” Peterson,
a young man in his mid forties who advised that women
should confront every form of possessiveness from the onset
added.
In spite of popular belief that partners save themselves a lot
of grief and squabbles when they trust concurrently without
excessively monitoring one another, some lovers still claim it
is very normal to feel jealous and possessive for those they
truly love.
“Every partner has all the right to be possessive. If you are in
a relationship then you have some responsibilities towards the
person you love. And then there are expectations. If you are
committed to someone then you are like a part of their soul
and a little space in their heart is meant just for you, and it is
perfectly justifiable if you do not want to share that space
with anyone else. People say that possessiveness can never
be a part of true love but I say if you are not possessive of
the person you truly love then you actually not love that
person truly,” declared a young, married man in his late
thirties.
It is however not in the tradition of Woman to Woman, WW, to
judge. But whatever your verdict on true love and
possessiveness is, we simply advise that a partner be made to
understand the need to not suffocate another, right from the
onset, as this could enhance stability in any relationship.

Ekiti: Fayose floors Fayemi again

The Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal,
yesterday, affirmed Governor Ayodele Fayose of the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, as the winner of the governorship
election held in the state on June 21.
The three-man panel which conducted its proceeding in Abuja,
dismissed the petition filed against Fayose by the All
Progressives Congress, APC.
The APC had in its petition, alleged that the election
“witnessed an unprecedented level of rigging, manipulation of
voters register and wide spread election malpractices,” as well
as queried the legal qualification of Fayose to participate in
the process.

The party argued that Fayose was found guilty of
embezzlement and violation of code of conduct for public
officers, in 2006, following which he was impeached from
office.
Relying on the provision of Sections 182 (1) (j) of the 1999
Constitution, as amended, the APC stated that Fayose ought
not to have been allowed to participate in the election, adding
that the Higher National Diploma certificate he purportedly
obtained from the Federal Polytechnic, Ibadan, upon which he
was cleared to contest, was forged.
Consequently, the party sought the nullification of the election
over alleged non-compliance with the Electoral Act, and asked
for the withdrawal of the Certificate of Return issued to
Fayose by the Independent National Electoral Commission,
INEC.
Furthermore, it told the tribunal that the provisions of Sections
19 and 20 of the Electoral Act made it mandatory that the
voters register must be displayed at least 30 days before the
election, adding that this was not complied with, even as
armed soldiers and policemen were used to arrest and detain
several chieftains of the party, pointing out that the alleged
action of the security men led to the disenfranchisement of its
members.
It stated that the number of people whose names were ticked
in the register used for the election, did not correspond with
number of people that actually voted.
Cited as respondents in the matter were the PDP, Fayose,
INEC, the Chief of Army Staff and the Inspector General of
Police.
The petitioner called 11 witnesses before the Tribunal, as well
as tendered the alleged forged HND certificate bearing the
name of one Oluwayose Ayodele, through the Registrar of the
Federal Polytechnic Ibandan.
However , the Tribunal headed by Justice Siraj Mohammed,
dismissed all the grounds raised in the petition, saying the
petitioner failed to prove any of the allegations.
The panel held that the issue of non-display of register as
stipulated in the Electoral Act, could not be raised after
declaration of election results, noting that was a pr-election
matter and outside its jurisdiction.
It also, held that section 182 of the constitution did not
include impeachment as a ground for disqualification of a
candidate for an election, adding that the impeachment panel
that was constituted by the then Chief Judge of Ekiti State,
Justice Jubril Aladejana, lacked the constitutional powers to
declare anyone guilty of contravening the code of conduct for
public officers.
It voided the report of the seven-man investigative panel that
found Fayose guilty in 2006, “from whom or where did Justice
Aladejana derive the fiat to constitute the panel,?” the tribunal
queried, stressing that the APC neither pleaded nor tendered
the letter through which the Speaker of the Ekiti State House
of Assembly requested the Chief Judge to constitute the
impeachment panel.
“Such letter is the very foundation upon which the validity of
the impeachment can be ascertained. The absence of such
request robs the Chief Judge of the exercise of such
constitutional power to set up a seven-panel.
“The panel was not properly constituted according to law.
Does the panel have the powers to have found the Fayose
guilty of abuse of code of conduct on allegations of
embezzlement of fund? Our answer is emphatic No!, as only a
competent court or the Code of Conduct Tribunal have such
powers.
“The investigative panel lacked the constitutional vires to
return the verdict of guilty as they did in exhibit M & M1. The
APC, gave hearsay evidence.”
It also struck out names of the Chief of Army Staff and the
Inspector General of Police, from the petition, stressing that
the alleged wrongdoings by some soldiers or police men did
not make them a necessary party in an election matter.
The tribunal held that neither the particulars of the accused
security officers, the agents of PDP allegedly used to rig the
election nor names of the polling units where the “wide spread
electoral malpractices” took place, were supplied by the
petitioner pointing out that the APC could not in one hand,
claim that the election was not conducted in compliance with
the Electoral Act, and still urge the tribunal to declare its own
candidate at the poll, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, as the winner.
It noted that out of a total of 177 electoral wards, 1,700
polling units in Ekiti State, the petitioner only produced 11
witnesses, with six of them from one local government area,
to prove wide spread election malpractice stressing that the
party ought to have called at least a witness from all or
majority of the polling units, as well as tender voters cards,
registers it claimed were improperly ticked or admitted in
favour of Fayose.
On alleged certificate forgery, it held that APC ought to have
at least called an official of the Polytechnic to testify or
produced the original owner of the said certificate. It
described the allegation as weighty, saying the fact that it
was criminal in nature, meant that the matter ought to have
been reported to security agencies for prosecution.
“The burden of proof rests squarely on the petitioner and it
has failed to discharge that burden. Accusation of forgery
being a criminal offence must be proved beyond reasonable
doubt. There is nothing before the tribunal to show that the
HND certificate was forged or was earned or awarded to any
other person on the planet earth aside the 2nd Respondent.
“On the whole, all the issues and reliefs sought have been
resolved against the petitioner and the petition is hereby
dismissed”, the panel added.
Meanwhile, Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayo Fayose has lauded
the judiciary for its sound judgment by dismissing a suit
instituted by All Progressive Congress(APC) challenging his
victory during the June 21 governorship election
According to the statement signed in Ado Ekiti yesterday by
the Chief Press Secretary to the governor ,Mr Idowu Adelusi
commended the judiciary and for upholding justice in its
deliverance of justice.

They were purchased as part of the utilization of the 1Billion dollar loan and 77 were bought and are being distributed in the trouble area. Now boko haram are fleeing and they are now setting IED's everywhere but apparently they cant destroy the Tank.

Last week, BH loaded a Toyota Starlet and while passing like passengers, they ran into one of the tanks and made a huge hole on the ground and killed 5 soldiers but the soldiers inside the tank were not even scratched.

It is their massive IED attack where they plant IED and run away and while combing the area  Major Umar was killed. A gallant Officer. But with these Undestructable tank, One soldier can confidently drive into BH Territory and cause havoc without a scratch.

General Overseer of an Abuja-based church kidnapped

The General overseer of Abuja-based church, Great Calling
Ministry, Pastor Francis Irabor was kidnapped by unknown
gunmen while driving along the Lokoja-Abuja Rd in Abuja this
past weekend
According to reports, the Pastor and his driver identified as
Matthew Obamhen were driving in his Prado SUV along the
Lokoja-Abuja expressway when a peugeot 406 with a
concealed plate number double crossed his car, dragged him
out, forced him into the trunk of their car and then sped off.
After the incident, the pastor's driver drove the car to his
house in Utako, Abuja and narrated what happened to his
family members. The case was reported to the Utako police
station. His family say they haven't heard from him or his
abductors.

you ask? I represent you all in this wilderness in the
middle of nowhere. I know the frustration you face in
trying to carve a niche for yourself, a place to be rooted,
something to engage yourbeing with, and something to
make you look forward to tomorrow.
I am sure you want something to live for and find your way to
joy. My
person, I know e don tey wey your life dey waka anyhow, I
see how so
many of us have lost faith in this country with many more
convinced
that there can be no chance of a turn around, because they
see Naija
as a lost case.
Those that have power and are in power, are far too
comfortable to
notice the pain of those who suffer, and those who suffer
have no
power to speak the truth to power, on one hand are those
corrupted by
power, and on the other, are those corrupted by weakness and
foolish
fear(Worse still 2015 election brings no hope with it).
However
critical our situation is, it is time for exceptional Naijas to
rescue
us; no race ever made it this far without breaking away from
the
clutches of sycophants and narrow minded mindset. Germany
lost
Hitler; America released the slaves and let the plantation rot.
Great
Britain finally stopped trying to colonize everybody and beat a
wise
retreat into their own backyard. Egyptian youths have had
enough, even
Ghana called a spade a spade, and because they did, they are
doing
better. Name names, browse through the civilizations, you will
see
this painful rugged road stretch out ahead of mankind like a
mathematical formula surviving on the strength of its validity.
I must
confess that I have had periods of extended self-pity,
sometimes I
have felt conned by this country, some other times I wish I
was still
at the prime of my youth so I could really lash out physically
on all
those who have sold our future.
We have all ended up trusting nobody and believing in
nobody. Still,
I have faith that is why I will always believe in the
"exceptional"
few who I know can salvage what's left of our country. And
you may
just be one of them. It has been story, story, story for
decades now
as we commenced our fast forward descend. It is shameful, it
is
unbelievable that in a country packed full with more than a
few very
creative, progressive, hardworking intellectuals, we let riffraff,
scumbags, fraudsters, scavengers hold sway,
hummmmmmmm, what a mess.
From the East to the West, from the South to the North, from
the
senate to the executives all I see is the growing number of
scammers
and gangsters. Even this coming election na scam, but are we
just
going to sit and watch? My guy, this home grown
‘Demoncrazy’ is
turning into something worse than ‘kleptocracy’. For people
without
integrity we know that nothing else matters to them. My guy,
we cannot
afford to ignore our future and allow the privileged few to
extinguish
us.

Police arrest robbers at Redemption Camp, others

A 26-year-old man identified as Emmanuel Olowu who was
recently arrested at the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed
Christian Church of God while trying to rob worshipers was
paraded alongside other suspected armed robbers by the Ogun
state Police command at the Force Head quarters in
Abeokuta, yesterday December 18th.
Parading the suspects before newsmen, the state's Police
Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said Emmanuel was
apprehended with a toy gun, phones and money. Adejobi said
the other suspects were arrested while carrying out robbery
attacks in some towns in the state.

APC announces Prof. Yemi Osibajo as Gen. Buhari's runningmate

APC Presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has
chosen erudite scholar, former Attorney General of Lagos
state, and Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God,
Prof. Yemi Osibajo as his running mate for next year's general
election.
Professor Yemi Osinbajo is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN
and Senior Partner in the Law firm of Simmons Cooper
Partners. Yemi Osibanjo is a professor of law and was the
head of department of Public Law at the University of Lagos
(1997-1999).
His tertiary education was at the University of Lagos and the
London School of Economics and Political Science obtaining
the LLB and LLM degrees respectively.
Previously served as the Special Adviser to the Attorney
General of Nigeria (1988-1992), he later became the Attorney
General and Commissioner for Justice of Lagos State in 1999
reappointed for a second term in 2003. During the period of
his public service, he commenced the Lagos State justice
reform project. A prominent feature of that project was the
establishment of the Directorate for Citizens’ Rights (DCR)
which provides free legal services and legal representation to
indigent citizens of the state. This initiative gave a voice to
many who would otherwise not have a way to access their
rights.
Prior to that appointment, Osinbajo, a Professor of Law, was
the Head of Public Law at the Faculty of Law, University of
Lagos.
He is also the Ethics Adviser to the Advisory Board of the
African Development Bank and is a non-executive Director of
Citibank. He has served in various roles within the United
Nations, United Nations Centre on Transnational Corporations,
the United Nations African Institute for Crime Prevention, the
International Criminal court for Rwanda in Arusha, Tanzania,
the department of Peacekeeping operations and the United
Nations Peace Operations in Somalia.
Prof. Osibajo is Co-founder & Board Member Convention on
Business Integrity and the Justice Research Institute Ltd. In
2007, Prof. and his wife Oludolapo founded “The Orderly
Society Trust”, a non-governmental organization that is
dedicated to the promotion of Christian ethics and orderliness.
Professor Osibajo has authored, co-authored and edited
several books and publications including “The Unification and
Reform of the Nigerian Criminal Law and Procedure Codes” ;
“Law Development and Administration”; “The Annotated Civil
Procedure rules of The Superior Courts in Nigeria”; and “Cross
Examination: A Trial Lawyer’s Most Potent Weapon”.
He also pastors at Olive Tree House of Prayer for All Nations,
Banana Island, a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of
God and lives in Lagos with his wife and three children.

Notable lawyer found murdered in her home in Oniru, Lagos

The Lagos state Police command is currently investigating the
murder of a leading insurance practitioner and lawyer, Mrs Ola
Adeola who was found dead with her throat slit at her home
in Oniru Estate, Lagos on Sunday December 14th.
Mrs Adeola's maid and driver are the prime suspects in the
case as the two have not been seen or heard from since the
lawyer's body was found in her home.
The Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth
Nwosu said the police has launched a full scale investigation
and have transferred the case to the State Criminal
Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba. Late Mrs Adeola
was the daughter of former Chief Justice of Ogun State,
Justice Ebenezer Craig.

Human parts dealers arrested in Ogun state

The Lagos state Police command have arrested two
suspected human parts dealers identified as Dipo Olorunto
and one Baba Isegun aka Asiwaju while trying to sell human
parts over the weekend at Atan Ota area of Ogun State.
According to Daily Independent , 35 year old Dipo Olorunto who
claims to be farmer and married with four children, said he
was contacted by a friend of Baba Isegun to help him get a
human skull which was to be used for the treatment of
mentally ill patients. Dipo said he got the skull at Cotonou,
Benin Republic for N12,500.
"Baba Isegun told me to bring a human skull for him to
buy. He said he uses it to treat sicknesses such as
madness. I work as a farmer in Atan Ota area. It was a
friend who introduced me to Baba Isegun that I could
help him get human parts. I have to go to Cotonou to
buy the head. I wanted to sell it to him for N20, 000.
But police arrested me before I got to him.” he said
Confirming their arrested, the Lagos state Police Public
Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu said the suspects will
soon be charged to court. He said that Baba Isegun took ill
while in police custody and has been released on health
grounds but will return to stand trial when he becomes
medically fit.

The project itself, being part of the Interstate Rail Project, has
been listed by KPMG as one of the world's top 100
infrastructure projects!
This is a fulfillment of the idea that Alhaji Lateef Kayode
Jakande had way back in 1982-3 but which was delayed
when the military thought they had murdered that idea by
canceling the project. But that project has been given new life
today by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration
because as Thomas Sankara said "you cannot kill ideas".
Some people erroneously think that President Jonathan will
not do well in the 2015 election in Katsina State, but the
people of Katsina will vote for President Jonathan because he
built the only Federal University in Katsina state as well as
the only 6 Almajiri schools in that state. Before the ascension
of the President to power, Katsina and 11 other states had no
Federal Universities.!
The 2015 election is about records. The President has his
record and the opposition have theirs.
The days of selling a candidate based on his ethnicity, region
and religion must go forever. 2015 must be about issues,
records and ideas!

in the scale proving that the President is tackling corruption

the result of the clinical surgical incision made by President

Jonathan, Nigeria has had more corruption convictions than
at any other time and Transparency International noticed.
Remember that the Fertilizer Procurement and Distribution sub
sector of the Agricultural sector was a veritable channel of
corruption. Billions of dollars went into private pockets as
middlemen inflated costs and supplied adulterated products to
farmers. But under President Jonathan's watch, 14 million
farmers were registered by the Ministry of Agriculture who
connected them directly to the product through an e-wallet
system by which the Agriculture ministry send texts to
farmers to go and pick up their fertilizer and seeds direct from
their locality.
What greater anti corruption credential can you have than to
weed out 50,000 ghost workers from the Federal Civil service
saving Nigeria almost 350 billion Naira per annum?
As I speak to you, the Abuja-Kaduna Rail project has been
completed, under budget and under the time frame for which
this administration promised which is as a result of the new
efficiency of the Federal Civil Service which, through the
Federal Ministry of Works, had been able to supervise the
contractors efficiently because no kickbacks exchanged hands.
My brothers and sisters, as I unveil my candidate to you, I am
confident not only that he will win the 2015 Presidential
elections based on his record, I will further call on you and
other well meaning Nigerians, that If you value human life,
please urge INEC to make candidates take an oath not to
incite violence when they lose in 2015.
I sometimes wonder if the opposition think that President
Jonathan is a time traveller. Why do I say so? When the
opposition says Nigeria's problem is Jonathan perhaps they
should explain why we had problems when some of them
where in power. Is it that President Jonathan travelled back
into the past to create the problems they faced?
They say that President Jonathan has not achieved anything.
In that case is it that President Jonathan bribed the UN to
say that Nigeria's average Life Expectancy rose from 47 to 52
years under his administration, or he bribed the International
Monetary Fund, IMF, to promote Nigeria to a Middle Income
Nation in 2013 from a Low Income Nation before that? Or he
bribed KPMG to list our interstate High Speed Rail project as
one of the world's top 100 infrastructure projects? Did he
compromise the International Food Policy Research Institute
to say that hunger has reduced in Nigeria under Jonathan
from 16% to 14.1%?
I am not saying that Nigeria's problems are all solved. How
could they be? It took us 50 years to get to the point we were
before President Jonathan became president in 2010. Surely it
will take us more than four years to get out of the problems
we faced for half a century.'
But one thing I can say is that we are making progress under
President Jonathan. Elections are now free and fair and we
have bade farewell to do or die elections.
People can say what they like and be assured of freedom of
speech and freedom after the speech.
The era of politically motivated assassinations are gone.
Our railways have been revived, our major highways have
either been revived or are in a state of being revived.
All those 12 states that did not have universities prior to
Jonathan's ascension now have universities.
In today's Nigeria, you cannot name a state in Nigeria where
Jonathan has not built either a brand new university, a
secondary school, a hospital or a new road!
President Jonathan knows that a mind is a terrible thing to
waste thus Jonathan built 150 schools for Almajiri. And then
some say that he has only scratched the surface. My
response to them is that if previous administrations had
likewise scratched the surface, we won't have 12 million
children out of the formal education system in Nigeria!
President Jonathan is building schools in every state because
if disadvantaged kids had schools in the 80s they would not
have grown up into adults that believe that books are haram!
Those regions that did not have international airports before
Jonathan now have.
Today, Hyundai, Kia and Nissan have opened up vehicle
manufacturing/assembly plants in Nigeria even as the
government, most especially the Presidency, is patronizing
Innoson cars as official cars.
Nigerians want stability in their leader. You won't marry a
person who jumps from relationship to relationship, so why
support a Presidential aspirant who jumps from party to
party?
From 1999 till today, President Goodluck Jonathan has
remained in one party come rain come shine. Who in the
opposition can make such a claim?
Nigerians want to know what a candidate will do for them.
They do not want to listen to candidates bicker like motor
park touts. Even those that do not support the President or
the PDP have at least heard of the Transformation Agenda.
Have you heard of the opposition's agenda?
As elections approach, expect more panic attacks from a party
that spent its time insulting and criticizing the President
instead of selling its ideas to Nigerians.
They say that they will form a parallel government if they lose
in 2015. Under Jonathan, elections held in Edo, Anambra,
Ondo, Ekiti and Osun. Which of them were rigged? Why is APC
rejecting 2015 elections in 2014?
My brother and sisters, never allow those who swore that they
were determined to make some parts of Nigeria
"ungovernable" shake you and turn your focus from the
verifiable progress Nigeria is making under President Goodluck

Police killed and buried my brother in shallowgrave in Lekki - Sister

Some policemen attached to Maroko police
station in Lagos are being accused of killing
24-year old Aondona Tavershima and burying
him in a shallow grave at Lekki beach.
Sunday Sun reports
Five of the suspected policemen are now cur­
rently in police detention. The victim, a
motorcycle operator, was alleged to have
refused to stop when he was accosted by the
policemen who were said to be on patrol at
about 11am on the fateful day.
"On realizing that he was dead, the police­
men picked his corpse and put it behind their
patrol vehicle, a Toyota Hilux Van, and
covered it with tyres. They drove to the beach
and buried him. We were the ones who
alerted the family that their brother had been
killed and buried,” the eyewitness disclosed.
Narrating the incident to Sunday Sun on
phone, Aondona’s elder sister, Linda, said she
got to know about the incident on Thursday,
November 11, 2014. “I knew that he left for
Lekki with his friend and when he did not
come back, I assumed that he had gone to
spend time with his friends. When I was told
that my brother was killed, my people visited
the scene and saw the grave. We later discov­
ered that the policemen were from Maroko
police station and we went to lodge a com­
plaint. They promised to invite SCID Panti to
exhume the body, as it was not their job. At
night, they came and exhumed the body and
kept it in a mortuary. The DPO later called me
and requested that they would pay us N10 mil­
lion to end the matter. They said we should
go home and think about it and get back to
them,” Linda alleged.
Similarly, an in-law to the deceased, Dominic
David, claimed that he was told that
policemen were trying to arrest Aondona and
he refused to stop. “They opened fire on him
and shot him.
And even when he fell down, they still
continued to shoot.
Initially, they wanted to abandon the corpse,
but the owner of the house near where he was
killed insisted that they must carry the corpse
away.”
“They took his body to Lekki beach and buried
him in a grave and covered the burial site with
leaves and old carton. Unfortunately, some of
the people who witnessed the crime knew us
very well and alerted us. They promised that
Panti was going to investigate the matter but
up till date, they have not done anything
about it.”
The lawyer representing the family, Barrister
Mindia Chibok, said the family intends to
legally seek redress on the injustice meted out
to the victim. We expect that by now the
matter should have been transferred to an ap­
propriate authority and not the same police
station where the crime was committed. We
hope that the police authority will order a
thorough investigation and ensure that the
suspects, including those who are currently at
large be arrested and made to face the wrath
of the law.
I gathered that six of the suspects are current­
ly at large while five others are in police
custody.
Confirming the incident, Lagos Police com­
mand spokesman, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, said
that as soon as the Commissioner of Police
for Lagos State got wind of the incident, he
ordered an immediate arrest of the suspected
policemen who were alleged to have
participated in the killing.
“Five policemen are currently being detained,
while State Criminal Investigation Department,
Panti, has since commenced an investigation.
If found guilty, the officers will be made to face
the wrath of the law,” Nwosu said.

Major General Muhammadu Buhari has
emerged as the APC flagbearer for the
2015 Presidential election and President
Goodluck Jonathan has emerged for the
PDP. The battle for the soul and future
of our nation now begins.
Let us consider Buhari. On 22nd July
2014 he told The Nation Newspaper that
"our country has gone through several
rough patches, but never before have I
seen a Nigerian President declare war
on his own country as we are seeing
now.
Never before have I seen a Nigerian President
deploy federal institutions in the service of
partisanship as we are witnessing now. Never
before have I seen a Nigerian President
utilize the common wealth to subvert the
system and punish the opposition, all in the
name of politics. Our nation has suffered
serious consequences in the past for
egregious acts that are not even close to
what we are seeing now. It is time to pull the
brakes''.
One may have been prepared to accept the
general's words as being those of a genuinely
concerned and committed patriot who simply
wanted our President and his Government to
do a better job and who was worried about
the unfolding situation in our country if he
had not consistently exposed his true colors
and his obvious soft spot for Boko Haram.
Permit me to share just one example of the
expression of that soft spot in this
contribution. On 3rd June 2013, Thisday
Newspaper led their newspaper with the
following headline: ''The military offensive
against Boko Haram is anti-north- General
Muhammadu Buhari''.
The headline was followed by these words:
''Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has criticised
the declaration of state of emergency in
Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States and the
subsequent military offensive against the
Boko Haram Islamic sect. Buhari, who
featured on the “Guest of the Week,” a Hausa
programme of the Kaduna-based Liberty
Radio, yesterday said the federal
government’s action was a gross injustice
against the north. According to him, unlike
the special treatment the federal government
gave to the Niger Delta militants, the Boko
Haram members were being killed and their
houses demolished. He said he was not in
support of the declaration of state of
emergency in the three north-eastern states
because President Goodluck Jonathan had
failed from the outset in addressing the
security situation in the country''.
The implications of these shameful and
indefensible comments, coming from a former
Head of State, are obvious and self-evident. If
the truth be told Buhari's peculiar affinity
with the terrorists and his fawning about
their safety and welfare is as unbearable as it
is nauseating.
Yet that same General Buhari who said these
unacceptable things one year ago is now
busy pontificating about his concerns for our
nation. Many would argue that that is pretty
rich coming from him given his past
comments about a ruthless group of terrorists
who, more than any other, merit the award for
the greatest ''troublers of our nation''. Given
this I regard Buhari's comments to the
Nation Newspaper on the 22 July 2014 as
nothing but self-serving and belated clap trap
and balderdash.
Yet this clap trap and balderdash is worthy of
a little attention. Of particular interest to me
were the following words: ''never before have I
seen a Nigerian President declare war on his
own country as we are seeing now''. Really?
Correct me if I am wrong but I thought that
the war that President Goodluck
Jonathan had declared was against
terrorism and Boko Haram and not against
the Nigerian people.
Does General Buhari find it difficult to make a
distinction between the jihadists and the
Nigerian people? Does he see them as being
one and the same? Does he actually equate
members of Jama'at ahl as-sunnah li-d-
da'wa wa-l-jihad with the Nigerian people?
Does he regard the military offensive against
Boko Haram as being an offensive against
OUR people? Does he honestly believe that
anytime that a Boko Haram terrorist is killed
by our Armed Forces and security agencies or
that his house is blown up that it is an
attack on the Nigerian people or an assault
on the north? Are those people that Boko
Haram slaughtering, terrorising, abducting,
pillaging, robbing and raping on a daily basis
all over our country not the real Nigerians?
Does he honestly believe that Boko Haram is
representative of the thinking of our people or
even the majority of the people in the muslim
north? Has this man not lost touch with
reality? Does he really belong to the 21st
century or is he nothing more than an old
relic from the distant past who secretly
craves for a return to the norms, ways and
values of 6th century Saudi Arabia? Is such a
man really fit to be President of our country?
Is he still insisting on having another muslim
as his running mate in order to establish his
strange dream of a muslim/muslim President
and Vice President for our country or has he
shelved that idea due to political pressure
from President Olusegun Obasanjo, public
resentment and bitter outrage?
Has he beat a tactical retreat from the
muslim/muslim adventure and finally opted
for Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Professor
Yemi Osibajo, Governor Kayode Fayemi or
some other yoruba christian to be his running
mate as my sources are suggesting?
I must confess that all three of these
individuals are profoundly good men and are
eminently qualified for the job but does this
latest concession come from the heart or is it
just a ruse and an attempt to appease the
christian community? Is it an attempt to lure
them in and make them drop their guard?
Does Buhari have any respect for Christians?
Does he have any empathy with the christian
community in northern Nigeria for the
immense suffering, degradation,
humiliation,contempt, shame, indignity,
persecution and mass murder that they have
been subjected to in the north for the last 54
years and particularly in the last few years?
Does he regard christians as being human
beings? Does he accept the fact that Boko
Haram are nothing but beasts? Does he
recognise the fact that no-one has the right
to take the life of another human being in the
name of religion? Does he know that
compulsion has no place in any civilised
religion and that each human being has the
right to exercise his or her free will to
determine which religious faith he or she
wishes to espouse?
Does Buhari understand the meaning of the
words ''secular state'' or the concept of the
secularity of the state? Can he possibly
accept the virtues and comprehend the
wisdom of such an equitable and reasonable
constitutional arrangement which guarantees
the rights of all faiths and which does not
allow one faith to laud it over another
anywhere in our country?
Does he recognise the fact that Nigeria is in
actual fact a secular state in which the rights
and dignity of the members of every faith,
including the christian faith, are guaranteed
by the constitution? Does he accept the fact
that in this day and age it is a heinous crime
against humanity and particularly the girl-
child and that it is a complete violation of
the laws of our land for little girls of the age
of 5, 6, 9 13 and even up to 16 to be married
off and subjected to rape in the name of
religion and marriage?
Does the General support paedophiles, sexual
predators, sociopaths, sadistic perverts and
the criminally-insane like the Boko Haram
leader Abubakar Shekau who are sexually
attracted to innocent and defenceless little
girls and who believe that they can be ''sold
in the market'' and ''forced into marriage and
slavery?'' Does he honestly believe that Boko
Haram are human beings? Does this man
that wants to be President of our country not
recognise a heartless and callous beast when
he sees one?
Does the wanton and relentless shedding of
rivers of innocent blood, including the blood
of children, not move his heart? Does the
open abduction of almost 300 little girls,
each of whom is young enough to be his
grandaughter, from the sanctity of their
school dormitory in the dead of the night not
evoke pity in him and not stir him to rage?
Does he have any compassion and does he
feel no pain for the suffering of the victims of
Boko Haram? Does he know that Boko
Haram has killed as many muslims as they
have christians in their insane attempt to
establish an islamic fundamentalist state in
our country?
Is his inability to make a distinction between
Boko Haram and the Nigerian people
informed by the fact that he is a closet
Haramite whose stated desire is to ''spread
sharia throughout the whole of the country''
as he said in 2001? Does Buhari still believe
that ''muslims should only vote for
muslims’’ or ‘’for those that will protect
their interest'' as he said in 2001?
Does he still believe that ''christians should
not worry when muslims chop off their own
arms and hands in the name of sharia
because it is none of their business'' as he
said in 2001? Does he still believe that Boko
Haram members should be forgiven, granted
amnesty, pampered, sent abroad to learn and
given monthly allowances ‘’like the Niger
Delta militants’’ as he suggested in 2013?
Does he still believe that , if he is not elected
as President in 2015, ''the dog and the
baboon shall both be soaked in blood''?
The questions are legion. Given his views
about Boko Haram does General
Muhammadu Buhari have the moral right to
condemn anyone, least of all the President
and the Federal Government, for the
challenges that we are facing in this country?
Never before have I seen a former Nigerian
Head of State openly express sympathy and
covertly support a murderous and bestial
terrorist organisation that has killed well over
30,000 innocent Nigerians in cold blood, that
has abducted and raped our little girls and
that has slit the throats and drained the
blood of our young boys.
Never before have I seen a former Nigerian
Head of State openly defend a bunch of
cowardly, uncouth and barbaric jihadists that
have bombed and burnt alive the weak, the
vulnerable and the elderly in our country and
that have slaughtered our soldiers, policemen
and intelligence agents at will and with such
callousness and glee.
Never before have I seen a former Nigerian
Head of State openly canvass restraint and
mercy for a bunch of bloodthirsty, cold-
blooded mass murderers and criminals that
have turned our country into a pariah nation,
that has made the north the home of the
most callous, ruthless, hateful, vile and evil
terrorist organisation in the world and that
has transformed our nation into a horrendous
haven for ruthless islamic fundamentalists
and bloodthirsty islamist militias.
If the truth must be told the only thing that is
worse than Boko Haram are those in the
Nigerian political class that secretly support
and covertly assist them. A Buhari
Presidency would be a disaster for our
country, a danger to the Christian community
and clear evidence of the final victory and
triumph of Boko Haram and the jihadists over
the Nigerian state. It would also represent
the end of Nigeria as one nation.

A 40 year old identified as Matthew Zira,
(pictured above) says he's searching for his
wife and seven children after members of Boko
haram invaded their village in Michika LGA of
Adamawa state on September 7th. A
distraught Matthew narrated his ordeal to The
Nation. Read what he said below..
My name is Matthew Zira. I am from Vi village
in Minchika Local Government Area, Adamawa
State. I was living comfortably with my family
until that fateful Friday. Before that day, there
had been rumours that Boko Haram would
attack the village, but no one knew when they
would come. So on that day, as usual, I went
out of the house to look for my daily bread. I
ride commercial motorcycle in the village, I
am also a farmer, and did the commercial
motorcycle work when farm work was over.
So, I left home as early as 6 am on the 7th of
September 2014 on my motorcycle to
commence the business of the day. But at
about noon, I started hearing gunshots and
everyone said Boko Haram had arrived town. I
immediately rushed back home to go and
evacuate my family, but before I got home,
they had fled along with other villagers to an
unknown destination. I went round town
looking for them but could not find them. I
went to the police station, hospitals and
everywhere but could not find them. Before the
evening of that day, Boko Haram had already
taken over the entire village completely. I was
advised not to go back home because all the
houses in the village had been razed by Boko
Haram. I fled to Minchika to continue the
search for my children. Later, we had to flee to
Yola when we heard that Boko Haram would
attack Minchika. I spent one month in Yola
searching everywhere for my children but I
could not find them. Those of us who escaped
from Vi village and other surrounding villages
were camped at the NYSC camp in Yola. I
thought of meeting my children there in the
camp but they were not there. I had to come
to Jos because I was told that thousands of
Adamawa people ran to Jos. But I have
searched all the IDP camps in Jos since the
5th of November when I arrived, I can’t still
find them. There is even no iota of information
about where I could find them. “Others who
lost their families during the rush to escape
have found their people, but in my own case,
I’m still searching in vain. It is only God that
will reveal to me what happened to my family.
So, I am only looking up to God now because I
have done all that is humanly possible. I am
really in trauma; at night I can’t sleep, I keep
thinking of my children. At times, if I am
eating and the thought of the whereabouts of
my children came to my mind, I will not be
able to eat any longer, from that moment I will
lose appetite. I am pleading with any Nigerian
who knows where I can locate my children to
contact me on my phone – 07037728905. My
wife’s name is Tinana Mathew. My seven
children are Rita, Ziramatu, Tumbamatu,
Kwata, Racheal and one-yearold Doris. Please,
I am eagerly waiting for any information on
their whereabouts.” he said
