Jonathan calls emergency PDP meeting over Tambuwal

Abuja - President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday convened  a high level meeting with some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to discuss  the defection of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu tambuwal to the All Progressives Congress  (APC),.
In attendance at the meeting which was held at the Presidential Villa were members of the National Working Committee of the PDP, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Muhammed Bello Adokie, the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, some PDP Governors as well as members of the House of Representatives from the party.

Malala donates $50,000 to reconstruction of schools in Gaza

Nobel Prize winner and Pakistani education campaigner, Malala Yousafzai, has donated $50,000 towards the reconstruction of schools in war-torn Gaza in Palestine.
Many public buildings and schools in the Gaza Strip were destroyed by Israeli warplanes and tanks during Gaza's recent conflict with Israel.

Malala made the donation yesterday Wednesday October 29th after receiving the World Children’s Prize for the rights of the child in Marienfred, Sweden. Speaking at the event, Malala said the money will be channeled through the United Nations relief agency UNRWA to help rebuild 65 schools in the Palestinian territory.post by expdonaloaded

Amaechi will pay for his attack on Jonathan, First Lady –Evans Bipi

The self-acclaimed Speaker of the Rivers State House of As­sembly, Evans Bipi, has vowed that Governor Chibuike Amaechi would pay for his attack on Presi­dent Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience, im­mediately he leaves office.

Bipi told journalists in Port Harcourt, yesterday, that Amaechi had been taking ad­vantage of his immunity to disparage Jonathan and his wife indiscriminately.
“It is regrettable that Rotimi Amaechi has consistently in­sulted and disparaged a sitting President and his wife with impunity in abuse of his im­munity as a governor.
We feel pained that we are constrained to take necessary action against him because of the immunity, which he en­joys.
“In less than eight months from now, Amaechi will be made to answer for all his ac­tions against President Good­luck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan.”
He vowed: “Wherever Amaechi likes, let him run to after his tenure as governor; we must surely get him to answer for all his libelous ut­terances, rascality and incit­ing public disorder against the president and his wife.”
Bipi, who is the leader of the anti-Amaechi lawmak­ers of the state House of As­sembly and coordinator of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus, Wakirike ex­traction, accused the governor of squandering N19 billion to organise the recent All Pro­gressives Congress (APC) rally in the state.
Also, he debunked the gov­ernor’s allegation that the First Lady, Dame Jonathan, wanted him to share the resources of the state with her and chal­lenged Amaechi to prove his claims.
He said: “We also challenge Governor Amaechi to prove his allegation that the First Lady sent ex-militants to stage protest against him for refus­ing to share Rivers money with her. These allegations by the governor are false and baseless.”
The lawmaker represent­ing Ogu/Bolo Constituency alleged that Amaechi’s wife, Dame Judith, collected N36 million meant for constituency projects for her pet project.

Pres. Jonathan Receives N98.17 Million in Donations from Supporters for Presidential Campaign

President Goodluck Jonathan will pick the PDP nomination form for the 2015 presidential elections on today, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, said on Wednesday in Abuja.

Briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abati also announced the receipt of a total sum of N98.17 million in donations from the president’s supporters.

“President Jonathan thanks all Nigerians, members of the PDP, friends, associates, and all groups who in sincere appreciation of the achievements of the administration in the last four years, have been urging him to seek a second term in office.
“He is greatly encouraged by the overwhelming outpouring of goodwill and support, as well as the confidence of the generality of Nigerians in his ability to continue to transform the country for the good of all of its people.
“President Jonathan is also grateful to all the persons, groups and communities who have sent donations, and made pledges to assist him to pay the required N22 million for the PDP Presidential Nomination Fee and Expression of Interest Form.”
Abati acknowledged the receipts of the donations, which he said, came from individuals and organisations from all parts of the country.
The Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) and the PDP governors donated the highest amount of N22million each.
According to Abati, the president assured the donors that he would continue to do his “utmost best at all times to fully justify the great confidence they have placed in his leadership.”

Despite Cease Fire Agreement, Boko Haram Strikes Again in Mubi – Adamawa | Residents Flee

The highly-publicized cease fire agreement between the Federal Government and Boko Haram doesn’t seem to be working, as the insurgents continue to kill, abduct, and destroy the lives of innocent Nigerians.

Vanguard reports that the terrorists yesterday attacked Mubi, the second biggest town and main commercial hub of Adamawa State.

Soldiers and hundreds of residents are said to have fled the town in the midst of the attacks.

Joshua Chinasa, one of the residents who fled told reporters:

We are in serious trouble as these boys (Boko Haram) have taken over our towns, splitting in groups with some Boko Haram members advancing towards Mararraban Mubi and Vintim, the home town of Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, giving Nigerian troops a hot chase. Mubi has now become a ghost of itself as people in their hundreds are fleeing for their lives. Even here in Maiha, we saw military vehicles zooming off towards Yola, the state capital.”

Also, Ahmad Sajoh, the spokesperson to former Adamawa governor, Murtala Nyako, disclosed that his daughter was missing following the attack.

“I got a call from my daughter who is a 200 level student of Adamawa State University, Mubi. She was hysterical. I was in Abuja for a meeting, but her information forced me to head back to Yola immediately. She told me that the insurgents were approaching the town which is the second largest in Adamawa State. I ordered her to leave the hostel and join her cousins to escape the town. I called my father who confirmed the story.

By the time I arrived Yola airport, the town had fallen to the insurgents. My parents are trapped while my daughter and her cousins are missing,” he said.

The man that was allegedly shot by police in Delta state has died

Some days ago, I told you guys about a man, 25yr old Moses Onianwa (pictured), who worked with Oshimili North LGA, and was allegedly shot by policemen attached to Ibusa Police Station in Delta State during last Saturday's Local Government Area elections, unfortunately, he's passed. He died in the early hours of this morning October 30th at the FMC Hospital in Asaba.   Friends of late Moses are now asking the Delta State Police Commissioner to look into the case of Christopher Obiechie, the other youth who is the owner of the Mercedes Benz C-class allegedly shot at by the police.

"They have refused to release or grant him access to his Lawyer despite all glaring evidences that they were all working for Chief Barr.Peter Nwaoboshi, a Senatorial aspirant in Oshimi North. They also did not charge him to court after more than 72 hours in Police Cell with their trumped up charges. #FreeChristopherIbusa" a friend said
