was undoubtedly devastated after her relationship with producer Calvin Harris was broken off via Twitter and a few months down the line the British singer is still answering questions about the details surrounding their separation.

Rita Ora covers the December 2014 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine and in it she talks her sexuality, her body, feminism, her breakup with Calvin Harris and more.

Here’s what the 23-year-old entertainer had to share with the mag:

On her breakup with Calvin Harris: “It was the right guy at the wrong time. I was about to start a tour, and he was also all over the place. There’s only so much you can do when you don’t see each other. I really admire people who have long-distance relationships. It’s an incredible achievement. I couldn’t do it.”

On her sexuality: “I’m very proud to say that I think about sex. It’s what everybody thinks about, whether they say it or not. For me, sex is a form of getting to know a person – feeling someone’s skin.”

How Boko Haram raped, beat us every night – Abducted girls

The teenager is one of the five girls that personally recounted their ordeals in the publication which was made public on Monday. She said that after her marriage to the commander who was in his early 30s, she was ordered to live with him in cave.

The experiences of three others who suffered sexual violence were narrated by witnesses in the 63-page HRW report titled, Those Terrible Weeks in Their Camp: Boko Haram Violence against Women and Girls in North-East Nigeria.’
The publication provides details of how hundreds of girls and women aged between 15 and 22 were being made to suffer other forms of abuses and used for ambushes.
The HRW said in the report that it spoke to 47 witnesses and victims, including some of the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped from their hostel in April this year.
The group also described how some of the Christian abductees were ordered to convert to Islam or be executed.
It claimed that four of the eight sexual assaults it recorded occurred after the girls and women were forced to marry Boko Haram combatants.
According to the HRW, before “marriage,” the commanders appeared to make some efforts to protect the women and girls from sexual assault.
It said that in two cases, the insurgents took advantage of the absence of a commander and sexually abused abductees who had yet to be “married.”
An 18-year-old victim also described how an insurgent sexually abused her when she went to use the bathroom.
She said, “I did not know he followed me when I walked a short distance away from the tree under which we slept. He grabbed me from behind, roughly fondling me while trying to take off his pants. I screamed in fright and he hurriedly left me as I continued to shout for help.”
Another woman, who was raped in 2013 in one of the militants’ camps near Gwoza, described how a commander’s wife seemed to encourage the crime.
“I was lying down in the cave pretending to be ill because I did not want the marriage the commander planned to conduct for me with another insurgent on his return from the Sambisa camp. When the insurgent who had paid my dowry came in to force himself on me, the commander’s wife blocked the cave entrance and watched as the man raped me.”
Another woman aged 19, who was married and had children, described how she and one other woman were raped after having been abducted in April 2014.
She said, “When we arrived at the camp, they left us under a tree. I managed to sleep. I was exhausted and afraid. Late in the night, two insurgents woke me and another woman, saying their leader wanted to see us.
“We had no choice but to follow them; but as soon as we moved deep into the bush, one of them dragged me away, while his partner took the other woman to another direction.
“I guessed what they had in mind and I began to cry. I begged him, telling him I was a married woman. He ignored my pleas, flung me on the ground, and raped me. I could not tell anyone what happened, not even my husband.
“I still feel so ashamed and cheated. The other woman told me she was also raped but vowed never to speak of it as she was single and believes that news of her rape would foreclose her chances of marriage.”
The HRW had previously documented the widespread abuses carried out by the Nigerian security forces in responding to the attacks by Boko Haram.
However, the rights organisation asserted that few members of the security forces implicated in “serious violations of humanitarian and human rights law, including violations against girls and women, have been prosecuted.”
It advised that “to ensure accountability, Nigerian authorities should investigate and prosecute, based on international fair trial standards, those who committed serious crimes in violation of national and international laws during the conflict, including members of Boko Haram, security forces, and pro-government vigilante groups.”
The group said that “in addition, the government should provide adequate measures to protect schools and the right to education, and ensure access to medical and mental health services to victims of abduction and other violence.
“The government should also ensure that hospitals and clinics treating civilian victims are equipped with medical supplies to treat survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.”post expdonaloaded

After 30 years of silence, Barbara Bowman is revealing just how serious things were. According to her, “’I’m finally revealing all of my full story in hopes that others will learn to read the tell-tale signs of abuse and not wait as long as I did. No one believed me for years. They said Bill would never do that. That it was preposterous. But I’m putting my name out there and standing behind these words, just like Burress. No more code of silence.”

What made Barbara come forward now?

Well a few days ago a comedian Hannibal Burress attacked the image of Bill Cosby and asked why he is still a much loved American figure even after being accused of rape by 13 women. Barbara credits her courage to Hannibal Buress and says, “I thank Hannibal Burress for speaking out over and over again, despite the threats from the Industry that it could ruin his career. He is standing up for me and the other women who are too afraid to speak out.”

Barbara Bowsman described a particular time at his New York house:

We ate in the kitchen. I had one glass of red wine with dinner. My next recollection is me, coming to, slumped over the toilet bowl, throwing up. I was wearing a man’s white t-shirt and my panties. The t-shirt was not mine. Bill was standing over me, holding my hair out of my face as I threw up. I had no idea how I’d gotten there. I’d had one glass of wine with dinner. He was trying to soothe me with his words, “It will be okay. It’s okay.”
By the time I came to, the staff was gone. No one in the house but us. And as the fogginess lifted, he escorted me to the couch where I recovered. I then got dressed and he called me a cab. I was mystified. It was a sick pit in my stomach, knowing that I was out of control over the last undetermined amount of time. And that I was undressed, while he was in a white robe, and how had I gotten there.

Barbara Bowsman shares, “Maybe he should also teach his fictitious TV family how to escape the talons of sexual predators. Bill used to tell me that he was my father figure and that I needed to trust him as a father, 100 percent. Then he’d drug me and attack me. I was too afraid to talk back. He told me over and over again, “Trust me like I was your father.” He zeroed in on that like a laser beam.”
She describes another time in Reno, Nevada, in 1986:

He turned out all the lights. It was completely pitch black. He laid me down on the couch and started caressing and touching me all over. Then he put my hand on his penis, covering it with his hand. He had me masturbate him. I couldn’t see what was going on. When it was over, I ran out of the room and threw up.
‘It was so invasive and frightening and humiliating. There was no way I could tell my mother. I couldn’t even admit it to myself. I tried to convince myself that I’d imagined it. That it was a one-time thing, that it wouldn’t happen again. And I was paralyzed with fear.

Thyblackman.com shares three reasons why Barbara Bowsman’s story is believeable even though there has been quite a backlash of her being financially motivated. According to thyblackman.com, “Despite money being passed around, the notion that the allegations were all financially-motivated is highly questionable for at least three reasons: 1) The massive number of women who’ve come forward (which might mean there are others who were afraid to speak up), 2) the consistency of their stories, and 3) the fact that Barbara Bowman couldn’t receive a dime from her interview in Newsweek, since the statute of limitations had passed and she couldn’t be financially compensated in a lawsuit.”

Once upon a time, on one fine weekend night… the moon shone its silvery light upon this part of the world which was handy, because as usual, that road in Lekki no get street light.

And so I drove, slowly. Because in addition to there not being any street lights, the road was bad… terrible actually. Pot holes here and there.

Somewhere at the corner of the street there seemed to be a scuffle ahead of me. A man and a woman. The young woman (who was relatively short) was pulling at his shirt and trying to land some flying kicks and fiery slaps at the man.

The first thing I noticed about the man was that he did not hit her back… Hmmmn, commendable.

The second thing I noticed was that the man arched his (excuse my pidgin) nyansh as far away from her as possible… probably worried that her flying kicks might smash his errrr… nuggets. Men! Protecting their nuggets since 19-gbogboro!

The third thing I noticed just before I drove past them was that the man was very light skinned. You know that fresh-ajebutter-brightness of someone who has lived a good life overseas? Exactly. That kind of yellow. I wondered just how he had gotten himself mixed up with such a dramatic woman…

Wait…

He looked familiar ooooo…

Oh dear! I realized just then that I knew him. It was Jason. Posh, soft-spoken, sweet Jason. “How in the world is Jason in this place at this time, involved in a scuffle?” I wondered to myself. I immediately reversed the car (I had not driven that far you see). I wound down the car window and called out in concern…

“Jason?” Both the kicker and the kickee froze mid action. They turned to me. Oh my, it really was him! I continued, now clearly concerned for him. “Are you okay?”

What happened next shocked the daylights out of me.

In a nano-second she released him, and there she was on my car, all teeth, blows, kicks and red-hot rage. Her face was contorted in hate and she fumed and screamed,

“Is this HER?! Is she the reason you don’t want me to come to your house?!” She banged on my windscreen with great force and spat at me, “YOU! You are the reason he doesn’t want me to come to his house again abi? COME OUT OF THIS CAR NOW!!!!”

Come kini? Ahan, Boda Jason! E so ro o! Why you dey look like Lucozade Boost?

I wound the car windows back up hurriedly. At this point she was trying to pry open my car door from its hinges in between heavy kicks at the door! Walahi, some herculean moves o, forget that she was female. She continued fuming. Jason was trying to wring her away from my car. Both were shouting now. DRAMATIC STUFF! Seemed like something from the Zombie Apocalypse.

Omo mehnnnn, I can’t fit to shout under moonlight. Plus I no dey for that-was-how-it-happened epistle. (Eg. That-was-how I was going home, that-was-how I saw them, that-was-how I decided to help them, that-was-how she broke my windscreen, that-was-how she clawed at my eyes, that-was-how one eye now kpeme. Yes, doctor… that-was-how I came to need one synthetic eye…and so on and so forth).

Abeg o. Boda Jason. Like my Urhobo ancestors say, everybody make e bear im papa name. I can’t shout. Oh no no no no.

“Vrooooooooooooooooooooooooom!” Was the sound my car made as my heeled feet kissed my accelerator pedal. O da bo o Jason. I don go be dat.

The next morning, Jason called to apologise. I felt bad for him even though I was a little disappointed. But then he started to explain… she was this and that. That-was-how tori wan dey start. I told him it was alright and that I didn’t have to know. Which was the truth. Of ALL the women in the world he had to pick that one. Choice and consequence. Everybody bear ya papa name.

Drama, drama drama! Oh, what a dramatic society we are in. I once knew a guy who ended an almost-relationship with a girl he considered perfect- simply because she found out he was creeping around with another girl and she didn’t freak out like he expected. He was so uncomfortable with her maturity that he just had to end it. In his own words, it was “suspicious”, plus “a woman that doesn’t give you drama doesn’t really love you.” So, he dated a dramatic girl instead, and his world is now filled with complaints, drama and many that-was-how-it-happened epistles.

Perhaps we should address the underlying worrying questions this raises. Generally, are we such a dramatic society? How did we become this way? Have we become so accustomed to inviting avoidable conflict into our personal lives, and in turn extending them to our friendships and even relationships? Why do we do this? Most men complain about their women having “drama”. And yet, what does it say about them who consciously, time and time again choose the very ones who will bamboozle their lives (and that of anyone connected to them) with such “drama” that they would become bitter and miserable?

There was also the man who saw his wife at a club and started raking at her. He dragged her out of the club by her hair. Never mind that he was caught there with his mistress who was busy sipping champagne with a straight face. What happened to keeping your business private? Dramatic things buttered with public shaming and spousal abuse. Sad.

Another day I went out for drinks. A group of guys seemed to be having a great time- laughing, dancing and drinking. A woman (probably his wife) came in and started screaming at the guy to go home. His “friends” just shifted from the brouhaha and were snickering in amusement. Before my koro-koro eyes she gave him two hot slaps. One on each cheek and pushed him out of the lounge. Another instance of public shaming and spousal abuse. I condemn violence, so two thumbs down for these ones.

Ah. My personal motto is “keep it drama free” o. Me, I can’t fit to shout and waste my saliva biko. Odikwa very precious. Hehehehehe!

Senegalese Boys Attacked at US School & Called “Ebola”

Two Senegalese brothers who recently emigrated to the United States, where attacked by some of their fellow school students, after being called “Ebola.”

The boys who are 11 and 13 years old respectively, and are in the sixth and eight grade, were beaten up at I.S. 318 school in Tremont, New York on Friday afternoon in the schoolyard, NBC reports.

Sources say the boys have been in the US for just one month, and had been taunted endlessly for two weeks by the students.

Their father, Ousame Drame, stated that the students who bullied his sons had told other students not to talk to them, and would whisper “Ebola” every chance they got.

Although Drame’s sons were raised in Senegal, they were born in America.

“They have every right to be here,” said Drame.

After the incident, the boys were taken to the hospital for treatment.

In a new interview with Encomium mag, Wizkid said he doesn't care if people think he is arrogant, that he doesn't love everybody and so doesn't expect everybody to love him.Asked if it bothers him that people think he's arrogant, Wizkid said;

"Bother me? Never! I am not bothered. Honestly I don't hear people saying it because anytime I go out, I show my fans great love. I do my thing. I don't have problem with that because I don't love everybody as well. So I don't expect everybody to love me too. That's life" Continue...

Asked if he is terrible person, Wizkid said;

"Terrible? Everyone has opinion about people. But when they say Wizkid is terrible, you need to ask them, "Why is Wizkid a terrible person? What did he do? He also reacted to his recent controversy with singer Saeon,

"Oh really? She's bitter about it. I didn't see the allegation but I gave her hit song. I no try? I did my part. I was in the studio with her, gave her hit song. I no try. That's not even how much I charge for collaboration, I charge N10 million. I collected N1.5 million from her because of love. I was busy, I didn't want to do it" he said. 

Asked about the comment that he doesn't charge those he loves, Wizkid said;

"Yeah I don't charge people I love. I said so but when someone is on your neck everyday for a collaboration and she offers you money, won't you collect it? If you fail to collect it, they start calling you terrible person. I am just trying to be a good guy"

On his fashion sense, Wizkid said;

"Fresh! Am I not looking fresh? I have always loved chains a lot. For me, I also see chains as investment because they ar gold and diamond. You can always sell anything gold and diamond. It is like an investment for me".

On why he loves to flaunt his accessories on social media, Wizkid said;

"You know now. I didn't have accessories when I started my career. Did you see me wearing bling-bling when I did Hola at your boi? No! I hustled to get money to buy them and there is no crime if I show it or flaunt it to my fans because they gave me money to buy them" he said

On where he invests his money, Wizkid said;

"I will say property but most importantly Jewelry. Do you know how much I can sell this chain on my neck when I get broke, God forbid? It's money and to me it's investment. I don't spend money on foolish things. I spend moderately. Besides I am a grown man. I have problems too. I have a child I am taking care of. I have responsibilities, believe it or not" he said

Emery James Jenkins, 38, of Deer River told police that he had accidentally dropped his 3-month-old son on his head while in the bathtub and that the neighbor’s dog had attacked the boy while he was in a car seat wearing a monkey suit, according to CBS Minnesota.

The medical examiner’s office, however, tells a different story.

They said in the report that the baby suffered a skull fracture, blunt force trauma to the body, and cutting or biting injuries to the chest, hands, fingers, feet and toes.

The boy’s mother claims that Jenkins made up the story before eventually calling 911.

Jenkins, who has reportedly received numerous assault charges in the past including a felony domestic assault conviction in 2010 apparently didn’t want to bring his son to the doctor because the blood had soaked through the baby’s clothes. The child died in the hospital two days later and police recovered baby clothes and pillow cases with dried blood stains, according to the report.

Ex-girlfriends of Jenkins who were cited in the criminal complaint in the report said that he has a history of violence and drug use including methamphetamine. In one instance described by a girlfriend in the complaint, Jenkins allegedly slammed a different son’s head into a car door. He had also reportedly made verbal threats about hurting children.

The Speaker of Nigeria's House of Assembly, Aminu Tambuwal, has formally defected from the People's Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressive Party, APC. The speaker made the announcement at exactly 12.24pm today October 28th during the plenary session of the House.

Politics Today: ‘I want to industrialise Imo state’

Ken Ojiri, one of the front runners for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket in the 2015 governorship election in Imo State was upbeat as he picked the form to formally throw his heart into the ring for the primaries coming up later in November.

He has never hidden his desire to introduce creativity and dynamism into the governance of the state. He says Imo is one of the producers of graduates in the country and the least in industries making it an unviable paradox. He spoke exclusively to Daily Sun soon after picking his form.
What do you think is the greatest Challenge facing Imo State?
The major challenge with Imo State is lack of employment which is due to lack of industries which in itself is lack of planning by past administrations. I refuse to see it as a problem because when something is a problem, the solution may be far, but when it is a challenge, it requires confrontation. When you confront a challenge, it goes away, but if you fail to confront a challenge, it confronts you. The unemployment in Imo State has been confronting the state because no one has deemed it fit to confront it. While each administration tries its best within the scope of its capacity, lack of understanding of the actual need of Imo people and a master plan on the short and long term means of solving them has been a hamstring.
I strongly believe that understanding the peculiarities of our problem is the first step to solving it and using time tested strategy is the key to overcoming the challenge of unemployment and by extension, poverty in Imo state. Every area has its peculiar problem. What provides succour for someone in Lagos may not be what will give someone in Imo state joy. It is therefore important to identify those things that will add value to the lives of the people of the state, things that will prolong the citizen’s life. What will return the cultural values of the people and the pride of the people of the state? When you identify all these, it becomes easy to connect with the people.
Imo State has suffered the highest amount of urban migration in all its ramifications. This has affected not only the economy of the state, it has affected the aged who are left alone in the villages, it has affected the younger generations most of whom are born and bred outside Igbo land. They grow up in foreign environment, foreign culture and language. The implication is that Imo culture and traditions are fast fading away while Igbo language has become foreign to these children.
How would you initiate creative governance in Imo State?
This is the reason everyone who aspires to govern any state in the country must set out his or her agenda, have a study of his state and its critical needs and come close enough to the people to connect with them. If you ask me, the biggest problem of my people in Imo State is lack of employment. Most Imo people are not happy in most cities where they reside, but unfortunately, they have no choice. It is difficult to imagine a state that has almost the highest number of graduates annually without a single multinational company in the state let alone, industrial park or estate.
Is it that Imo does not have enough land for industrial estates or that it can not design an industrial estate, or that it is a taboo for industries to flourish in the state. There is no rocket science in it. Once you make the environment attractive for industrialists, they naturally come to invest. It is my desire to develop industrial estates in Imo, attract major industries that will attract ancillary industries.
I don’t want to believe that most of the graduates riding Keke cannot go into agriculture and excel if it is well packaged, or into small scale productions if well oriented. Even welders, electricians, brick layers etc. who are working hard outside the state but leaving like ants will rather come back home and work. Graduates who leave from hands to mouth because what they earn is too meager to take care of their accommodation, high cost of city life and the hassles of the city will find succor in coming closer home to work. Others who have aged parents and desolate compounds will be too glad to relocate back home. Most people who are three to five sharing a room in cities across the country have comfortable homes in their father’s compound. If given the opportunity, they would be happier working from home.
Again when industries come and businesses thrive in Imo, property values will naturally raise, tenement houses become an investment. Unfortunately, this is what our people are providing for other cities that have the foresight to develop their industrial capacities. In places like Lagos, Rivers, Ogun, Anambra etc., what they are reaping today is deliberate long term industrial plan which was sustained. Chief Sam Mbakwe of blessed memory started it but no one sustained it and unfortunately, no one has been able to study Mbakwe’s master plan for Imo state.
Let me tell, you, if I follow Mbakwe’s master plan alone even as old as it was, Imo State will never be the same again. It is time to think of Imo state as an industrial state rather than a leisure state. I don’t think Imo people are that lazy to equate them with only leisure. It’s ironical that a people whose hands power the industrial capacities of other states have only hotels and restaurants to show as their industry. Imo state must change, it is long over due. It is time to reverse the trend of urban migration to rural migration and believe me, it is possible.
Much of what the federal government is suffering today has its root on non performing governors that hold sway in the states. A state governor that collects allocation and invest it on jamboree will turn round to blame the federal government for flooding in his state. He turns round to blame the federal government for high turn over of area boys, turn criminals or graduates turn kidnappers.
When a governor uses his money to purchase votes, buys himself into office and spends the whole time in his office trying to recoup investments, you don’t really blame him.
The state radio stations are propaganda machines that turn the faces of the masses to the federal government and away from the state governors who owe them larger responsibilities untill the states become creative in their governance, until those who have vision and plan for their time in office take over the government at the state, so shall the federal government continue to bear the brunt of the ineptitude of the state governments.post by expdonaloaded

Senate passes bill to protect Nigeria’s border communities

Senate has passed a bill aimed at bringing development to the country’s border communities by strengthening the legal framework that would provide additional source of funding for the Border Communities Development Agency.

The bill, an Act to amend the Border Communities Development Agency Act Cap, B10 laws of the Federation of Nigeria, was sponsored by Senator Olufemi Lanlehin.
The joint committee, which worked on the bill noted that the agency, in collaboration with the office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, would identify settlements, villages and towns across 108 local government areas in 21 states that are 15 kilometers from the nation’s borders, for effective policing and massive development.
It listed the affected states to include Adamawa,  Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa,  Benue,  Borno, Cross River, Delta,  Jigawa,  Katsina, Kebbi, Kwara,  Lagos,  Niger, Ogun,  Oyo,  Ondo, Rivers, Sokoto,  Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara.
The bill proposed the deduction of at least 20 percent from the Ecological Funds to tackle infrastructure decay, and provide health facilities, schools, and adequate security arrangements in all the affected communities.

Why Nigeria requires global support against Boko Haram – Mark

Senate President, David Mark, recently took the campaign against atrocities of the Boko Haram in some states in the North-east to the 131st session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, IPU, in Geneva, Switzerland.

Terrorist groups, including Boko Haram, he told fellow parliamentarians, had the capacity to wipe out nations if urgent and collective efforts are not taken to contain them.
Addressing the session of IPU on “Achieving Gender Equality, Ending Violence Against Women,” the Senate President noted that all hands must be on deck to end violence of all kinds, especially against women and children “because they are the greatest casualties of the meaningless mayhem on the Nigerian state.”
He stressed that “Nigeria welcomes the efforts of international partners and friends, who have stood by us in this trying time.”
As a country, he said Nigeria commends the efforts of international community, especially on the London Conference held last June on ending sexual violence against women.
“Whereas institutional and policy efforts to combat gender imbalance continue to yield result, the Nigerian state is convinced that the result must not only be sustained but must also be multi-sectoral and integrated,” he said.
To this end, he disclosed that government has embarked on massive re-orientation and education to end violence against women. Jonathan, Nigeria’s most tolerant, democratic leader – Ogoriba

Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, Hon. Warman Ogoriba, has contended that President Goodluck Jonathan has raised the bar on good leadership and tolerance, arguing that his successor may find it difficult meeting the standard.

Speaking at a special session with the House of Representatives Press Corps over the weekend, Ogoriba argued that while the president remained the most criticised of the nation’s leaders, there have never been attempts at incarcerating any of the critics and that the National Assembly was enjoying the utmost level of independence under him.
Scoring Jonathan high for stabilising the polity, the lawmaker stated: “In terms of political stability in the country, you can’t take the unrivalled achievement of a stable political climate away from the Jonathan administration. Just take, for instance, the National Assembly. From 1999 to 2009, you can count the number of impeachments of presiding officers in both chambers of the National Assembly. And all of those impeachments had the imprints of the Executive arm on them.”
“This has been the only administration where you have a very peaceful parliament, conducting its legislative activities without the Executive poking its nose to see how it can influence things as they will favour it. Since 2011 till date, we have never seen the hand of Esau in the things that go on within the National Assembly to warrant us fighting and breaking one another’s heads in the chambers.
“Secondly, you should also know that Jonathan is the most insulted president in the history of this country without heads rolling. People from all walks of life insult this president openly without him, unleashing his security arsenal on any Nigerian because he knows that the responsibility of the office of the president comes with enormous sacrifice, which he has to make to keep the country together.
“We know what governors in some states have done to people who merely criticise their policies on social media. Many have gone to jail or lost their lives by just criticising the action of governors in this country. But President Jonathan has never caused the arrest of anybody on the basis of either criticism or verbal abuse of his person in the media. He has also remained very calm and focused when issues come up to overheat the polity from the opposition.
“He has never ordered the arrest of any opposition even when they make inflammatory or derogatory comments about his person and his office. And I pity the person that would take over from Jonathan, because he will have to contend with all these tendencies for which Jonathan has raised the bar of tolerance. If the person is not tolerant enough, he may end up jailing or killing so many Nigerians on the basis of his own ego,” he said.
Ogoriba also declared that lingering insurgency being perpetrated by the Boko Haram sect had no basis of comparison with now rested Niger Delta militancy, stating that while the later was pure agitation on the basis of demand for rights, the former is pure terrorism.
“Mind you, even before the period leading to the proclamation of amnesty in 2009, a great son of the region, Isaac Adaka Boro, had taken up arms against the state before the war. He was arrested and jailed, but was later released after the war. So, before the youths in the region took up arms, there had been a long period of agitation, which is quite different from what we have now in the North East.
“Another difference between the scenarios is that the people involved in the militancy were known faces that you could relate with. They had issues for which they waged their war against the state. And most of the issues raised fell on deaf ears of successive administrations, which led to the desperate measures of resorting to arm struggle. And the amnesty programme brought a solution to the Niger Delta-militancy problem.”
Also throwing light on status of East-West road, which his committee is directly supervising, the lawmaker said though poor funding was hugely responsible for delay in its execution, he was optimistic that it would delivered before the end of 2015, disclosing further that between N60 and N70 billion might still be required to complete the job.
He also vowed that his committee would ensure that contractors who are serious are encouraged while those that failed would not be given funds in the 2015 Appropriation.
On the outcome of the National Conference, Ogoriba said it was “difficult to start talking about the report when I have not read the details of it. And as you know, before a report is debated on the floor of the House, it would have been distributed among members for adequate study preparatory to the debate and subsequent legislation action.” He noted that he still considered the 13 percent derivation fund to oil producing states as inadequate.
The lawmaker said there was nothing wrong with the endorsement of Jonathan as sole presidential candidate of the PDP by various organs of the party.
On the perceived deviation of the current House of Representatives from its initial course, based on its adopted legislative agenda, the lawmaker blamed same on the influence of godfathers and expressed optimism that the House would still be able to retrace its steps.
Also speaking on his constituency outreach and the justification of his come back bid, Ogoriba noted: “I think I’ve done very well to effectively represent my people. And as a legislator, one of the greatest assets you can give to your people is unhindered access. Make yourself accessible to them at all time, listen to their needs and complaints. It’s by so doing that you adequately situate your argument and contribution to legislatives processes in such a way that it helps to address their concerns.
“In terms of empowerment, I believe I’ve done very well too. We have carried out many empowerment programmes in my constituency. By November, God willing, the last batch of the 250 women in one of the empowerment programmes will be through. They are currently undergoing skill acquisition training sponsored by me.
“On the issue of whether my re-election bid is justified, I would like to say that – that lies in the hands of God and the people of the constituency. Like every other person, I do not expect any.”post by expdonaloaded

Namibia 2014 fallout: Falcons’ pockets not yet super

African Champions, Super Falcons are at the receiving end of the  leadership  crisis rocking  the Abuja Glass House  as the players are yet to get their match bonuses and allowances.

Expdonaloaded sport enquires revealed that the  Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has failed to meet up with their earlier promises of ensuring that all allowances due to the team are promptly paid.
The victorious team landed in Lagos early Monday morning and are  still waiting on the NFF to pay their outstanding bonuses.
A source close to the team revealed that the players received allowances only during the group stage of the just concluded Championship.
According to the source, the semi final and final bonuses are still outstanding despite the team’s five star performance that saw them conquering Africa.
President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to host the girls on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa after the Federal Executive Council meeting.
In the same vein, the Shepolopolo of Zambia are locked in standoff with the Zambian Football Association over unpaid allowances.
The girls who were eliminated at the group stage of the 2014 African Women Championship,  caused  a storm  and have refused to vacate the FAZ Technical Centre in Lusaka until their allowances are paid.

Tambuwal’s week of decision

After months of speculation and uncertainty the political destination of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, will be decided this week.

Apart from the public knowing the next political step he will take, everybody will also know it whether or not he will dump his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and officially join the All Progressives Congress, APC.
“His political future will be unveiled this week. I might not be able to tell you the exact day it will be done but I am certain it will take place this last week of the month of October,” one of the Speaker’s aide told Daily Sun.
It is not far-fetched why Tambuwal must, of compulsion, take a stand this week. The national convention for both the APC and PDP is just few weeks away. Whereas many are not in doubt about Tambuwal playing a key role in the 2015 general election, only few, arguably, can say with certainty the shape such role will take. While he has consistently been associated with the APC presidential ticket, those close to him have insisted that the man will contest the Sokoto governorship. The picture of his ambition will certainly become clearer in the next few days. Same with the platform under which he will contest the actualise it.
While he has remained officially a PDP Speaker, Mr. Tambuwal is believed to have long fallen out with the party. He has been absent from key party’s functions for a while.
Tambuwal’s media aide, Imam, is silent on whether the Speaker has or will decamp to APC or not. But that will likely be in the purview of the masses this week...post by expdonaloaded
